In 2004, Bicontinental sold its interest in UB Marine its marine subsidiary (a joint venture between Underwater Marine of South Africa and Bicontinental) its marine business is now focused on building and maintenance of ships in a partnership with South African shipyards as well as shipping and logistics in the oil industry.
Services provided to oil trading companies include:
- Arrangement of Vessels, timely mooring and shore readiness for loading onto vessels
- Control quantity loaded on vessel and its conformity with loading instruction provided by the oil company.
- Verification of vessel documents such as bill of lading (BOL)
SUPPORT AND INSPECTION OF OIL/GAS TERMINALS
Bicontinental through its subsidiary and affiliate company, provides technical and inspection services to oil/gas terminals and facilities including storage tanks and depots. Our inspectors, technicians and engineers carry out the following services:
- HSE audits
- Inspection and maintenance of storage tanks and depots
- Rehabilitation, construction and maintenance of oil/gas terminals
Prior to a terminal audit, Bicontinental engineers and inspection team ensure that terminal management is prepared with relevant items available to auditors.
Two weeks before the start of inspection, maintenance or audit, our in-house team of engineers and inspectors request the terminal, tank or storage to provide the following information:
- Terminal and berths layout together with plot plan
- Tank/storage/depot physical data, preferably a single table with age, size and type of product content
- Fire marine layout diagram including location of pumps, hydrants and monitor
The Audit generally includes observation, regarding condition of plant equipment and maintenance effectiveness and provides suggestions for improvement. All information and photographs gathered during audit remain confidential.
